hey....you took my drum mic setup !!

this is the EXACT setup i have used SO many times..although often using a royer stereo ribbon in place of the sm69...which i have only had the pleasure of using a few times.

i wish i had all of those mics in my personal room !!

your room looks stunning, paul.

best,

Thanks JC,
The funny thing is, up till just a few days ago, the room mic was always a Royer SF-12...( I have two and LOVE THEM)
But I just recently purchased the SM69 Friday from a fellow slut.
So this is new to me
Can't wait to hear it~!

Hey badge..

Is that 57/Beyer m201 combo on the snare top, or is one underneath?

Both top mixed to taste to one track.
funny the 666/fet was the main sound in the end.I also forgot there was an RCA 77 out in the room as well.

lately I'm a fan of 1 to 2 coles over and an M49 kick front.
two to three mics.done
Less is more.

Pretty basic setup, for a late sunday night jam with friends

kick - beyer M88 - neve 33115(w/eq) - 1178
snare - SM7 - neve 33115 - 1178
toms - 421's - console pres
oh - 451's - console pres

console - soundcraft 2400B 32x8x2

very basic setup
did the job though, even with that crappy old kick drum

Another one

Taken from todays session:

Kick:

Audix d6 > Neve 1081
NS10 sub > Neve 1081
Royer 121 > Chandler Ltd 1 > Transient designer 1 (Attach and and decay turned up)

All signals grouped through desk to one track with GML 2020 eq on Group insert

Snare:

Top: Neumann fet 47 > Neve 1073
Top: Same signal paralled into Transient Designer 2 with tons of decay added
Bottom: AKG 451 > Neve 1073

All signals grouped through desk to one track with Little Labs Phase aligner on group insert

Hat: AKG 451 > Neve 31102
Ride: Josephson e22 > Neve 31102
Toms: Top> 451 / Bottom 414 > Neve 31102

Underheads (thanks sean!!): Royer 122v > AEA Ribbon Pre

Rooms (In front and pointing at floor) : Neumann U67 > Api 512c > Api 550b eq > Vac Rac Limiter. This is a great technique and adds tons of grit and attitude to the kit sound.

Came out as a really great vintage sound but with plenty of modern punch. Will post clips when I get a chance to reopen the session.

(Apologies for grainy photos, cant ever seem to get that right!)

Kore,
What's the deal with the mics a few inches off the floor? Clearly, I'm going to try it for myself, but any tips on how you use it?
