Chandler Little Devil EQ Vs Neve 1073LBEQ

I would love some feedback on these units. Anyone used either or both?

i recently demo'd both of these.
i ended up doing a shootout with my 550A, the Little Devil, and the Neve.
in the end i chose another pair of 550As.

the Chandler KILLED the Neve in tone and flexibility.
possibly because the Neve was meant to be used with its mic pre counterpart.
(no transformers in the 1073lbeq)
I wasnt a huge fan of how small and tight the Chandler's physical layout was.
(once you get your fingers on a knob you can't see what you're adjusting).

the 550A is just my jam, so i got more.
if i was looking for more variety in my eq rack,
the little devil would be at the top of my list.

The Chandler Little Devil EQ has wonderful PUNCH and vibe, with a real solid weight and musical thickness/creaminess that is just wonderful to me. Wish I had a bunch of them. They work great on mid range stuff, and drums, and I would land them on electric's mostly, but killer for drums and sharp instruments. I thought they worked excellently on vocals and anything that needs some juice inside a mix. Can't go wrong with these, if you want to bend some tone and/or add some tone.

It's great to hear some user experience comparing the Neve 1073LBEQ and the Little Devils. I've been curious myself. I do wonder what the the LBEQ's would sound like paired with the preamp though so that the original circuit is replicated. If anyone has them paired up and would like to discuss their experiences that would be great. That aside, I do know that I LOVE those Little Devils! I'll never give them up. Great on vocals, drums, bass and guitars in my experience. Wish I had more, and I have considered getting more. Some day. - paul

Recently bought 2 Little Devils and got the LBEQ for demoing. Tested them just for a short time with some drum sounds. Liked both pretty much. Extensive testing still needs to be done.

Flexibility with the Little Devil is way better (obviously ). They are sweet and tight. The LBEQ sounds softer to me. Despite the missing transformer it sounds great. But the price tag is too high for my taste. Nevertheless I might get one day the 1073 for lower price or used.

I'd say for a start Little Devils give you more. The 1073 may complement an existing setup.

Very good feedback so far. Anyone compared the Chandler Little Devil to a Neve module like the 1081 etc?

Is anybody doing a mod for the LBEQ to add a transformer? Seems like a no brainer. Not ever sure why Neve havent done it. Still haven't heard these things yet. Would love to do so.
