Anyone can share some experience and tips for using the "colour" function ? Where do you feel it works the best ? If put on maximum, some audible distortion comes. Around 2-3 steps, it sounds very nice ... So far tried only full mode ... Using it just on a selected band is an interesting option, but have not tried so far ...
I only use it sparingly once in maybe 20/30 sessions. It is very audible past 1.5/2.
I mostly use it on the 3rd or 4th band (high mids/highs) as the stereo image "perception" increases.

My 2 cents.

First, I was put off by the strange note thing.
I almost did not buy the unit.

I do read music, but didn’t really want it on my EQ.

But this unit did help me realize how much I really just listen
and don’t look.

(I’m not a big DAW fan either, preferring “old school”). If I could learn to look less
at the screen maybe I could be won over.

P.S. Yep, Can’t think of a reason I would ever sell my IBIS.

l
so video/film post engineers working on shows with dialogue should have to have the same memorized knowledge? and those working on Radio VO's?....
or is the IBIS not for those people?

Sort of like the PENTODE and TAPE controls on the HEDD. Take those off the HEDD and it's just another great sounding ADC. But with them on there, there's nothing else that does what it does.
I used it on a couple sessions. I definitely liked the idea of the individual color controls, but didn't find them as useful as the HEDD color somehow. I bet I'd find more use for it if it was hanging around for a while.

Sure - it takes awhile for just about any box to grow on me and Ibis was no exception. I can't imagine mastering without it now...

Well, I found that to those few things I was playing now with, 1-2 degree full band colour did always good ... Adding a kind of VERY subtle "celestial" spark around the sound ...
