Need to know which U87 I have

Need to know which U87 I have

Hi members, anybody know were to ask which model, year, etc, is my U87? Did not find that info on the general www of neumann. serial number is 36775.

you definitely have an old one. mine was made in 1992 and its number is 91439. i suspect yours was made in the 70's. i believe you can email your serial number to neumann and they will mail you back with the manufacture year.

So that make yours and mine Ai models (mine was made in 1999
serial no. 82459)

Many thanks for all the replies. Hope to receive an answer from Neumann.

Pics coming soon. Also says P48 and made in Germany (not west germany... gefell issue?)...

The Neumann folk will be a little more precise, when they get around to responding (they can usually narrow it to a month, if not to the day it shipped) - but it has been known to take them a while to get onto it.

Be aware that Neumann's date service not infrequently provides wrong information. After emailing them, Neumann Berlin Service Dept replied "We are pleased to inform you that your microphone U87i # 29962 was manufactured in 1971."

I knew this was too early, and Klaus confirmed that it was made in May 1977. He also noted that their service dept has made mistakes several times before.
