Pacifica hi gain???

all,

i just bought a pacifica a few weeks ago.....and one of the first things i noticed, apart from the killer sound, was that the gain is screaming straight out of the box. I had to engage the pad to track a male vocal, which I'm not as used to having to do with some other pres. Seems like it's already got maybe 30-35 db of gain at the zero mark. Anyone else noticed this? has it been a problem for anyone? Thanks.

What do those pres sound like? Are they transparent?
I hear they rock

They sound really musical. They are not transparent. They are velvety and detailed. It's like a less agressive API. Kind of, but not really.

I'll repeat my now copyrighted endorsement: "....it was like pouring warm, white chocolate all over the vocal track."

Peter, you should go ahead and post this to your site. Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!

No problem for me. Tons of sources sound better with the pad in and the gain cranked anyway.

But not butter that has been melted in the microwave.
