Console for a new radiohead album

There is a lot of pictures, from recording sessions, on their web page with gear they use. But what is the console in front of Thom York?

Looks like another (or the same) MTA that they used for Kid A.

Like Radiohead, but everytime I hear or see a picture of Tom York I think "lighten up dude". This picture is no exception.

Maybe we should start a picture caption thread on this. My offer:

"I should've bought a Neve"

Oh come on now, everybody knows Thom is a lovey dovey cuddly teddy bear. The I want to cut my own heart out motif is just for the mags.

That is the "I am going to cup my hands behind my ears because I have lost a lot of high frequency hearing from playing live to loud" pose. I get real worried when I see rock band members doing that. Turn that shit down or get some ear plugs. Life would suck if you were deaf!!!!

If you are used to wear ear plugs during rehearsal and live performance, you develop a different level/frequency response sensitivity relationship between the instruments that he may be using to balance them in the mix...hummm maybe not

don't they have a 10 album deal with capitol? a deal where he could probably crap into a jewel case and send it in? if i was in that situation, i'd certainly wash my hair is all i'm saying.

Radiohead's great. Whatever it takes for them to do what they do. No, he doesn't look happy-go-lucky but they aren't writing that type of music either. I can't imagine what Radiohead would sound like if York would 'lighten up'. That's the beauty of Radiohead.

What's the deal with MTA consoles? Never heard of them.

I imagine money is no object in making a Radiohead record, so something's gotta be up...

Malcom Toft Audio. I prefer a Trident Series 80B.

So just out of curiosity, does Radiohead track on this console or do they just mix on it?

Isn't he holding headphones in that photo?

I thought they were doing this album with Spike Stent. I'm preety sure he mixes on a 9kJ. Maybe this is from a tracking session and he's checking his vocal on headphones.

I believe he has a history of hearing loss in his family and thusly is extremely cautious about his hearing. If you look at the picture, he is clearly holding his head and not plugging his ears.

So no one knows whether Radiohead tracks or mixes (or both) on the console? Or do they track with external pres (ie. Neve, API) and only mix on this board?
