Thread Starter | New convertor: Apogee Symphony I/O or Cranesong HEDD/Avocet
Hi Guys I'm upgrading my convertor and monitoring and can't decide between a new Apogee Symphony I/O or Cranesong Hedd/Avocet. Forget the price and in/out differences I'm more interested in the best conversion option. I have other options for increased in/outs if I go Cranesong. I've been interested in the Symphony I/O since the V4 update. Conversely I've always wanted the HEDD however after reading some A/B tests here most don't vote for it compared to others. Given this may I better going for the Symphony I/O and handle HEDD type processing in my DAW. Obviously if you've had experience with both I'd value your opinion but any comments would be appreciated. Many Thx, K |

There are several options that are all great. I have a HEDD 192, Avocet, and the new Avid 16io which actually sound amazing. As far as a monitoring controller and DA, the avocet is hard to beat. The feature set alone is worth the price. Throw in a Crane Song DA and there you go. As far as the HEDD goes, it is great. I use mine on an analog loop usually for the 2 bus. I also track through it a lot. It is a great sounding converter The processing is really good on it as well. A little goes a long way with it. If I were to buy another converter today, it would be the Forssell MADA 2 and maybe a Burl AD. It really depends on what you're after and what you'll be using it for though.
