Thread Starter | Symphony I/O + Thunderbolt later this year small print claims
I read this article today for the first time. The small print in the upper left-hand corner makes reference to "later this year". A bit optimistic I would think. Here's the statement: "Product announcements from major audio equipment makers have TBolt sound gear on track for later this year." The main article specifically speaks of the Symphony I/O and Apogee intending "to implement a Thunderbolt capable modular unit to upgrade the existing Symphony I/O without radically redesigning the audio device". Here's the full article: Thunderbolt Audio Interfaces | ThunderBolt Audio Equipment | Suggy Mac - Apple Music Recording Gear |

If Apogee takes as long with this release as it did with the Duet II then it will be way beyond the apocalypse next December.

Oh - they do...You're just expected to pay either $1000 for the Symphony 64 card or $3000 for the PT's HD card. One of the Apogee techs actually asked me "So - why didn't you buy the HD card?" Well, MONEY, DUDE...it says your box is supposed to work via USB.

I mostly use the 64 card, but still have issues, plus no real time mixer as of yet...

Well I'm glad you said that - saved me $800 on a symphony 64 card.

I had problems with the USB mode of my brand new Symphony Unit. I contacted Apogee, who were very helpful. They advanced me a new unit after they tested it. Everything is working great now. Hopefully with the next release all of the previous issues will be behind us. blake

So what were your problems? Would it not stay connected? Did you have to send the unit to them?

Once my USB mode was connected, all was fine. But my problem was that it wouldn't connect int he first place. When the unit started up, it would sort of "lock up" as the led displays were doing that "wave-like" movement from left to right... Then Maestro wouldn't see the unit. After talking with techs we decided that the USB bus itself (hardware) was malfunctioning. The new unit which they sent me works fine. blake |
