Thread Starter | Cool, strange, sexy, mysterious mixer.
I've been scouring and souring over a lot of threads and I need a recommendation or three as I'm going to make an order very soon. ![]() I have a budget of £2000-4000 GBP ($3500-7500 USD,) around that area (lowest of high end.) I need converters, (firewire or usb) 4 mic inputs, 8 mono line inputs. Wouldn't mind some EQ. Has to be new really because I need Firewire/USB. As I said in the title, I am considering either an interface or a mixer w/interface, having read about direct monitoring and latency issues I'm not sure what to do. I'm considering the Allen & Heath Zed 428, Toft ATB 16, Motu 828mkIII, RME Fireface 800. I'm "considering" Allen & Heath GS R24, Metric Halo, Prism Sound Orpheus, Lynx Aurora. Honestly, I'm at the stage in this search where I just want the coolest looking one. Anything to go well with my vistalite drums and pending fujitsu ten eclipse monitors and of course the lava lamp |

I have no doubt that the A&H will be a better investment than the Behringer though!

No question in my mind, if you can afford the Toft, go for the Toft. Fireface will do, but if you can couple the Toft with some metric halo's you will be very happy indeed. Gregory Scott - ubk |

Thanks so far, people. After more research; I need USB I/O 4 mic inputs, minimum Any number of line inputs a/d converters 192khz capability, 24bit Budget is still the same, £1000-3750, wouldn't like to pay much less or more. I will actually go for a weird looking one as part of what I refer to as aesthetic-narrowing down. This is sounding more like a rack interface now. Any cool looking/strange brands that I should know about, perhaps a one off piece? When it gets to 3am I'm pretty sure they all sound the same.. As long as it meets my specs I will take it, as long as it is uber cool sexy and sci-fi. ![]() Thanks guys. |

The RME ufx does look cool but is it better then the fireface 800 that has a wider dynamic range? Sent from my MB860 using Gearslutz.com App |

Thread Starter | Perfect suggestion, Big Wheels! Seems to cover all the grounds. Quote:
![]() Not to throw a spanner in the works but I would also consider a digital mixer if it is really cool, has a lot of pretty lights or has a screen like the yamaha DM1000 I'm pretty much committing audio euthanasia but I love it. I think I am going through a 'cool period.' | |
