I second the AEA R88. I demoed it directly alongside a Royer SF-12 and a Cascade X-15 and for me it was no contest. I was mainly judging it on drums and roomy backup vocals. It was one of the most subjectively pleasing-sounding mics I've ever heard and went straight to the top of my list... Unfortunately, it's been a year and a half since then and I haven't found myself with the disposable income to pick it up!! |

| Attended a chamber session where the engineer used one of these. It was absolutely stunning.
