Aurora GTC2 thoughts, please help me decide??

Hello everyone!
I'm replacing my UA 2-1176 with something...For me the 2-1176 was somehow too clean and "soundless". I'm considering Aurora Audio GTC2 or 2 Mohog MoFet76s. The comp doesn't neccessarily need to be another 1176 but it's one possibility :D. I would use this comp on tracking (whatever needs a good comp), mixing vocs, drum sub and 2buss or anything else if needed, I do mostly harder rock and metal music but also other stlyes most with real drums and other instruments.

I also have: Xpressor500, pair of Distressors, A-Design Nail, API 2500, UBK Fatso, Aphex Dominator, 2 Purple Actions and SH Optograph..

I know already that Aurora is said to be a quite clean comp and Mohogs are supposed to be the best currently available 1176-clones...So I know "If I want classic 1176, between these two it's Mohog" but can the Aurora get as aggressive as Mohogs if need be? Does it work well on stuff like drum close mics?
The selectable Fet/Opto seems very cool option to have...I currently have only one opto comp the Optograph...Would have use for more...

I currently use the Nail on 2buss, anyone compared Nail with Aurora on 2buss and/or vocal duties? Any thoughts or opinions? Besides 2buss duties, Nail is a great vocal comp so if I end up getting the Aurora, I could use Nail more on vocs during mixes...

All thoughts and help is appreciated!

Personally, I love the Purple Audio MC77 for 1176-style duties. I've compared them against the UA and strongly preferred the Purple. Haven't had a chance to try the Mohog stuff yet but have heard good things.

Yes, the switchable transformer on Mohogs seems to be a great feature to have also sounds good on Mohog clips on their web page. Also people seem to think that Mohog is usable on more sources than MC77 and sounds closer to the original 1176s, dunno, haven't been able to test but I have used old 1176s quite a lot and know and like the behavior very much...

I think I will end up getting both of my choises at some point but it will take time and until then I only can afford one.

SO, I'd like to get feedback especially on the Aurora ad Mohog units, I know the possibilities are endless out there and every week there is a new "comp of the week" but for now these are my choises..I can't test these units here in Finland. I've read everything I have found on both units and listened to all the demo clips I have found but still feel I need some more info and user feedback.

Where are you using yours? Are there some tasks you don't like yours? How's GTC2 compared to Nail, there's even an old thread about this in GS but it really says nothing? How's GTC2's FET compared to Mohogs?

Anyone have anything cool to say ?

Haven't used a Mohog, but I have a GTQC, and the compressor is every bit as flexible as you've heard. The combo mode is an added bonus. I wouldn't call it "clean" per se. In my setup it provides a perfect complement to my 1176 rev F and CL1B. Not quite as aggressive as the Urei, not quite as smooth as the Tube Tech, but with a different sound and response from either. I use it frequently for tracking. (and the preamp is stellar)
