Yohami, again - it's called B80 because it can hold up to 80 channels of DACs

You can compare to my earlier posted files where I used a Folcrom to hear the difference the Mix690 makes with the same converters.

I agree with your description. I think it sounds pretty close to the OP's OTB16/Lynx/HEDD example, but slightly warmer/punchier/less compressed. More wide/3D than my earlier Folcrom mixes.

Must be the 690 op amps and the Cinemag output transformers. Plus a well made "Virtual Earth" design.

Cheers,

J~

Here are some files from SU2 summing mixer and also the render from Reaper. No dither or any digital processing. I only have 8 outs so i joined some tracks.

I had to lower the files -2db so it won't clip on the way in in one of the tests.

In another one i used the bus pad(-db) and the master gain was on maximum

the other has some bus processing(analog) just for fun

Edit : Converters > Audiofire8

p.s. How do i upload the files without having to use soundcloud?
can you unlock the files to allow download?

thanks.

Hi ajv205,
could you please re-up the single tracks? I would like to do a VCC comparison.

Cheers,
Christian

As I understand it a 32 bit float is composed of two integers, a 24 bit mantissa plus an 8 bit exponent. The 8 bit exponent represents the floating decimal point.

So, assuming your audio is at normal levels and doesn't exceed full scale, converting from 32 bit float to 24 bit integer just means dropping the exponent and leaving the 24 bit mantissa unchanged. No dither required.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell 32 bit float provides the same resolution as 24 bit audio, and the only advantage is the huge amount of headroom above unity.
