Yes, and they are *not* shockmounts in ant shape or form - they are the exact opposite of a shockmount.

They are designed to direct couple the microphone to the stand - so you really need a heavy stand as well.

They work in the same way as loudspeaker spikes that are designed to directly couple the loudspeaker to the floor. These do the same thing for microphones.

Funny, the manual implies the exact opposite...

"The Enhanced Audio M600 utilizes the fact that it has a low resonant frequency restricting the transmission of infrasonic vibrations, resulting in an audibly tighter and extended bass response, cleaner treble and improved detail."

That said, they do indeed work. The mics I've used in them (mostly condensors, u47, 269, u67) "clean up". Pretty neat because they can fit just about any shape that goes through the two rings.

Yes - they are universal in the same sort of way that the Rycote USM is universal.

But they are exact opposites.

The fact that the Enhanced Audio M600 utilizes the fact that it has a low resonant frequency does not mean in any way that it is a shock mount - it is designed to hard couple, the exact opposite of a shock mount.

What it does it does well and users seem to like it.

This is clearly mumbo jumbo. If it has a low resonant frequency (what is it EA?) then the static deflection of the system would make the mic wobble and sway slowly.

Marketing nonsense. It actually has an extremely high resonant frequency and therefore useless as a shock mount. If you don't believe it, tap the floor or stand below this mount and see if the mic collects the structure-borne energy.

My U47 body's been absolutely fine for a few years.
You'd have to go pretty crazy tight on those screws to damage a mic body.

Yes and no.

It may have a very low inherent resonant frequency, but it *does* (as you say) transmit handling noise directly to the mic. - it's what it is designed to do.

It is not a shock mount in any shape or form - it's the opposite.
