question to all who have digital mixers

As soon as you finish mixing the song where do you send your final mix to?
i allways just send it back to nuendo recording on a stereo track wave file.

I thought maby i should record it in wavelab instead and it sounded better i thought. WHat is the best way to do it. Becasue when i send it back to nuendo i lose somthing.

I use a Masterlink to mix to. I record at 24/48 and burn a CD24 which goes to mastering.

something's wrong then. a digital connection back to the computer shouldn't sound any different than the output of the desk. i used to have a DMX R100 and printed back into the computer all the time.

Mixing ITB? Just because you're not good at it, doesn't mean it sucks.

I don't think there should be a sound difference, but the Masterlink can be a handy machine. Beware of the sample rate conversion in the Masterlink, though, it crunches it's numbers very obvious.

never understood the appeal of this thing when you've got a computer in the room already. the converters aren't very good and the DSP sucks. where do i sign up!!!!

I have a DMX100 also and i usually run optical straight back into the mac (logic). or i go analog out into a drawmer 68, then back to the mac through an rosetta 800.

I still have a masterlink but dont use it much anymore. I use to mix to it when i had a slower mac and didnt trust recording back into logic while outputing a busy mix, but now its not a problem. the Mlink is still good for pressing quick cd's of mixes in progress, etc.
