Just wondering if anyone knows why the grill on the top is curved where as the originals were flat... i'm figuring being a bit of a metal man it's more difficult to produce and maybe it would push the price up for all of us?? beautiful sounding mic none the less, was just curious

They've been flat for the last couple'a years...but yes, eariler models (U47AE) did have a dome at the top of the headbasket.

U47 head baskets changed a bit even during the original U47 production. It is said that the shape affects the sound quite a bit. I think the latest ones are the closest if memory serves. They are difficult to make exactly the same. |
