Unless, you're doing classical music.

Then 30:1 is better

(Print and run through again for triple pianissimo).

If i recall, here is a workaround to routing things other than the stereo bus into the c200 bus comp via the mix matrix. It's a bit of a pain in the ass tho. I would have to be sitting in front of the thing to describe how to do it.

Advanced routing on that thing is a PITA with the delay compensation and all that crap.

Totaly depends on material/track !!

I tend to have the ratio @ either 2:1 or 3:1

Then try this:

attack to .30
release auto

Then set the threshold so its doing about 2-3db of compression for starters.

Go back to your attack and try all the settings ! I increase the threshold as the attack gets quicker. So all attack times have roughly the same amount of reduction.

How do they sound?, what sounds best to you !!

Once you have set your attack try all the different release times and pick one which sounds best !

Adjust the threshold again, see how that sounds !

Your just trying to find that sweet spot for each track !!

Sometimes bypass is the magic ingredient !

Thanks guys all useful

At the mo i am using the SSL G COMP with attack at 12.2ms coz i can on this C200 version and release at 240ms (1/16th note) with minimal compression...

and i strapped the red 3 on after barely touching .....

oh and i backed off the level on the stereo bus so i had a bit more headroom.....

sounds awesome

Since nobody said it, I'd like to mention that there's a big difference in the auto release behavior when you compare hardware SSL buss comp against C200/Soundscape/Duende buss comps.

Software's release behave much faster than hardare when set to auto.

I tweaked my SSL comp a bit and added a 100Hz sc and a 55ms attack time.
Now I love it.

Setting:
55sm attack
auto release
4:1
about 4dB reduction
does wonders on bass heavy material

i guess thats the reason i even started this thread coz the c200 g cmp is software emulation right?

i cant seem to find an auto release setting and try to avoid using auto release anyway...
