audio-machinery studio : the building thread

Hi all...

well, it seems that now it´s my turn...
I found rooms I will build my first "real" studio in!
It will be a mixing studio with a vocal booth, located on the ground floor of the house I live in (my flat is on 3rd floor.)
It´s 70 m2; and has a bathroom, a kitchen, and 3 rooms.
One will be the Office and Lounge Room; one will be the control room; and the third will become a Vocal Booth.
Control Room Size is 5,7 m x 3,2 metres; Vocal Booth Rooms is a little bigger than the Booth, the Booth will be 3,2 x 2,1 metres. Ceiling is 3,2 m high.
Pics and Plans will be added soon!

Yesterday the Acousticians were here, and everything looks pretty well... there is a dip a 70 Hz in the Control Room, but that´s it!
The neighbour doesn´t hear anything, too, so that´s alright, too...

I am pretty excited, and a little nervous, too, but finally my Pro Tools will become a new home!!

Love it....

Andi

OK, tonight a friend of mine was so kind to draw me a sketchup file, and here it is!
we already learned a lot from it.
Also, today we bought the windows for the CR - LR sight...
next monday the build will begin, we will start with the window.

There seems to be a lot of parallel walls in your sketch. But as long you and your acoustician are happy thumbsup

I wish you the best of luck

Yes, but won´t be a problem, since there will be lots of acoustics on the walls and ceiling.

Hello Andi,

congratulations for your expansion.
Please consider you are living in a high-rated criminal area.
I know here in Neukölln (A part of Berlin) professionals whom become very frustated when somebody broke into their studio, even through a so called "security-door".
Mostly these thiefes have no overview of prices for studioequipment, but they know they will get money very easy for a mac or lcd-screen.
The old double-windows should be changed into new ones with a higher sound-isolation, in summer the berlin backyards can be very noisy, also i would put iron-bars infront of your window, specialy when you are located on the ground floor.
That your direct neighbours will not be disturbed from your actions is a real luck for this area, when I play at higher tunes at home I get very fast a visit.

Anyway I wish best luck for your enterprise and greetings

from the Weichselstraße

I apprecheate your comment, really.
This is something I already thought about, and was reminded of by some collegues already.
When I am not in the Studio, there are Roller Blinds that I will close, and then it should be fine.
Also I live in the same house, on 3rd floor.
The whole equipment is also covered by insurance.

I talked to the landlord and owner of the house, and he said that there has never ever been a housebreaking.

But we will see! ;-)

maybe we want to meet someday, your website looks interesting!?

Hello Andi,

yes the Roller Blinds is a good first step for security.
The LKA at Alexanderplatz has a office and consults you for free.
I do not like to panic, but that no one has broken in before has nothing to mean.
The victims told me about being more angry about loosing the hds with all the data(music) on it than being safed from the insurance.

I will consult following days some concerts and you can see me performing live electro-accoustic-ambient at Samacafe, Samariterstr. 32 on Tuesday night.

Best Greetings

Markus

Now we have seen.

Do not get me wrong - but i only needed some seconds with google to find this thread and one minute to find your homepage and the myspace-page, so to earase your identity is impossible in these times, e.g. Google or WayBackMachine of archive.org.

Hope not to get you in panic, but consider that these "turkish" (2 of 3 criminal youngster in Berlin are coming from a ethnic minority - so that is not rascim - just a fact) gangster and his probaly gang have now a radar on your space.

Have a spy-hole at your door and an inside security-lock.

Good luck!

Hi Ohm!

Thanks for your message / reply!

I assume you write with the best intentions.

But you seem to oversee something:

of course it only took you seconds to find my website and myspace: I WANT TO BE FOUND!!!!
I want it for my clients and maybe future clients to be easy to find me!!!
Of course this also has downsides; as you mentioned, you are totally right about that.

BUT what to do about that?

I have a spyhole etc, I always lock the place, the shutters are down all the time etc....
and I have video surveillance of the whole place 24/7, the cameras feed directly to the internet and everything is on an UPS - so even if they brake the power, pictures will be uploaded and sent to my iPhone immideately - which is pretty cool!

also I can spy in the studio when my engineers work there - wich is also cool! ;-)

One is NEVER totally 100% save.... But that´s another thread....

Have a nice week, and maybe we once meet in real life!

Cheers!
