There's been a bunch of discussion around here recently regarding this topic. People on this site seem to hold Lavry and Mytek in high regard when talking about converters. Also, from what I gather from other discussions, RME offers an excellent product at a price that won't break the bank. I personally use a multiface in my Logic/G5 rig and could not be happier. Are ther Myteks better? Probably, but, as with anything else, YMMV, depending upon a myriad of other factors (i.e. mics, pres, compressors, room acoustics, the band, the SONG, etc.). In short, I think RME gives you an incredible bang for the buck, IMHO.

Good Luck,

Yes -- sort of. Ultimately, each of us has to make decisions based on the economy of our personal or business situation and our production needs. A great (and I think the mytek is truly great regardless of the price - and the price is remarkable for the quality)... converter in your rig will provide the advantage of both superior conversion and superior clocking. The conversion will make your tracks sound better - especially as the track count accumulates - and using a converter of that grade as the clock source will make your entire rig sound better.

cheers,

I've got 16 channels of RME adi 8 DS. I've also got a Mytek stereo 96 AD. I use the Mytek to track pretty much everything except when I am doing large drum sets I just use it on the overheads. The Mytek is a much better converter. The rme is good, don't get me wrong. But adding the Mytek to my rig has made for much better recordings as my tracks stack up. I'm very happy with it and definately think it was worth the investment.

YMMV
