Pearlman/Great River NV Preamp Combo

Has anyone tried a Pearlman mic with a Great River NV pre, and if so do you have any thoughts on it? I've got the MP-2NV and the Pearlman is calling my name. I'm wondering if the top end of the pre isn't open enough for vocal bliss with this mic.

Thanks,
McBalls

Edit: P.S. I've read the post(s) about how good the Pearlman sounds with the Pacifica.... no need to get into that again unless to compare, etc.

I have a ME-1NV and a Pearlman TM-1. It is a great combo. Don't worry.. it still has plenty of top end. I don't regret purchasing either one.

That would really depend on what the voice needs in that frequency range wouldn't it? Are people afraid to reach for EQ these days (I mean how much difference in highs could there be between most preamps, a few db at most)? Maybe it's just me, but even after choosing a very flattering mic/preamp combination, by the time it gets down to a stereo file there is so much more in the way of processing that gets done. Even just adding different types of coloration (read: distortion) will alter the original frequency curve of the original track, and if that coloration reduces or adds a certain frequency, then it's going to need EQ to get back to where it needs to be. Compression does the same thing (possibly bringing up mids and sibilance). My advice is to stop dwelling on it so heavily, get a good quality piece of gear that's proven itself for a few years (or whose designer is known for making great stuff), and make some music.
