Thread Starter | Signal path balanced/unbalanced question
I have a Chandler Germanium (yes, love it, but don't really have anything else to do an A/B except for Digi 001 pres) and an Apogee Rosetta A/D (48k) that I'm using as my front end to Digi 001. When I did this recent 'upgrade', I also picked up a RNC; I've actually done a lot of tracking in the past *without* a tracking compressor and gotten great results for the material I was recording - so my question here is this: Would throwing the RNC into my signal path adversely affect it due to its unbalanced connections? Logically, I wouldn't think it would really matter, but there's something bugging me about mussing up the direct Chandler to Apogee connection. Aside from that, does the sonic quality/lack thereof of this box have the potential to do more harm than good? I'm of the camp that no compression is far better than bad compression as long as the level is hitting protools well and you have good converters. Thanks! |

Nope it shouldn't. I would worry only if you have long unbalanced (Over 15ft) lines.
