Dynaudio BM15a are quite nice in this range, and would fulfill the bass in an even handed way without scooping the mids. Very good speaker overall really, and pleasant to sit in front of all day in our experience.

The Focal Twin 6Be is an incredible full range monitor and they go for just over $3k. There is also the Solo 6Be are even a bit cheaper, and may leave enough $ leftover for the Sub 6!

Yup - that would be a very good move. And at least you'll be able to find some! You'll never find a second hand pair of Sigmas - and as far as I know there were only a few hundred made. Best monitors bar none under $10k brand new (second almost as good best would be barefoots) but no-one took any notice at the time!! ah well.... run with the Focals - they'd be a very good choice at this price point.

yeah, Good call on that one. A nice balance of detail and low end punch.

I had the chance to listen to the pmc and found them amazing, so well balanced.

Although I need to go and listen to the K&H 0300 which seem to be very popular.

Also too bad the event Opal are out of stock at the moment : they seem to be nice also.

If you like your A7s (I have them as nearfields myself), you will get much better bass than from any $3000 monitors simply by adding a deep reaching subwoofer like Genelec 7070. It would also take the bass load form the monitors allowing them to play louder.

How do you feel about the BM15A's versus the Opals? I know you've stated that they are great monitors as well, and was thinking maybe you didn't mention them because they're out of stock at the present time. Just wondering how you think these two match up.

There are a lot great options out there,

but I more and more hear fantastic mixes in Germany coming from S3as (old school ones).
I have those too,
so you might get them on the used market for about 3 k.

Still loving those speakers, and I wont upgrade any time soon.
