New Neve Gear (scan inside)

There was a thread on this a few days ago but I couldn't find it. Some people didn't believe the rumours but here's a scan of the ad in this month's (april) Sound on Sound magazine.

Sorry if I'm a little behind on this and someone has already posted it.

Should be easy enough to read, but for those who cant:

8800 A/D Converter
Multichannel A/D converter with the Neve Sound

8801 Producer Channel Strip
A complete Neve channel strip based on the 88 series console with recall

8802 Stereo Compressor
Stereo compressor with side chain input and recall

8803 Stereo Equalizer
Classic stereo equalizer with recall

8804 Multichannel Fader Pack
16 into 2 remote control faders with recall

8816 Summing Amplifier
16 channel summing amp with recall, cue features, cascade up to 6 together and recall

8820 Multichannel EQ
16 channel EQ, perfect stereo (the ad actuall reads 'setereo') matched feature

9000 Valve Preamplifier
Classic valve mic/instrument pre, true valve circuitry with new mastering features

Looks like they might be on demo at the Frankfurt Music Messe - there's a little logo for it at the bottom right which the scan just missed

My impression is that the new Austrian/Australian Neve is going wrongly and quickly on a dark path. Valve??--why--there are many good ones already.

summing mixer with fader panel??---unh-huh

Come on, Mr. Misner---why you wanna do us that way??

oooooh,,, anyone see the mention of the "perfect setereo matched feature" on the EQ.

they need a new ad department. aside from the typo, the drop shadow is extreme and clouds the subtitles of the gear. and the drop shadowing is redundant when the text is already outer-framed.

unless they are thinking "70's sound = 70's ad design"

hmmm, with the faderpack, summing mixer, and 16x EQ's... one would think they are going for a configurable rackmountable mixer.

Anyone notice "AMS" missing from the company name in the ad... Maybe now they are just NEVE...

The 8804 (fader pack) does seem to be referenced in the 8816 manual.

interesting:

Fader Pack. 16 Input Faders with cut solo controls and post fade direct outputs plus
2 Master Faders give the engineer fine level control with a traditional feel. With the
fader unit attached, the rotary channel level controls become aux send levels
increasing the functionality of the unit.

Why?
People just want to re-sell NEVE name that they bought. As much as possible.
Neve condoms, with Neve feels?
Who knows

Why would one need "new mastering features" on a mic preamplifier?

That, along with the typos and bad grammar, smells fishy to me...

Yeah I thought that was pretty odd. In fact, really, really odd.

I assure you it's in the April 2006 issue of Sound on Sound though

Maybe they love them so much they can't find the time to post?

Or Neve silenced them with paid killers or suitcases full of money... [makes mental note to watch less b-movies]

Looks like this will be the range that will be based around the 88R console (except the 9000 tube pre). Neve will be releasing the it at Musikmesse shortly. Check it here: ******//www.ams-neve.com/html/news/musicmesse.php

Attended the roadshow this week....there was no mention of any outboard but the 8816 and 8802. Also shown were the rackmountable remote 1081s, and air monserrat mic amps....also the dual 1073 pres.

the 88d looks pretty sweet, but they have crammed it so full of stuff, that you have to constantly check to be sure that you are adjusting what you want to be adjusting.
Very slick V-pot design. It still has buttons that they havent thought of a function for yet, and the software hasnt been fully written, so there is only one view on the screens other than the encore panel.
the Neve reps also mentioned convertors that can operate at sample rates up to 384k, not yet implemented, but soon to be optional for the 88D/cinefile system.

An interesting day, and i got a free t-shirt too!
