Andy Sneap- Reamping Guitar Tracks

Does Anyone know about Andy Sneap's reamping technique. I'll use Stuck Mojo's, "Declaration Of A Headhunter" as an example. I don't know if he used it on this album, but the guitar sound is fuking brutal! Rich "Duke of Metal" already has a slammin' guitar tone, but this album just kills!

Then move to the forum, and you'll have all your answers

Andy is a great guy and answers all the threads in the forum.

As for your reamping question, he uses a lot the following gear :

Peavey 5150 Mk1 amp
Krank Revolution amp
JCM 800 amp
Mesa Dual Recto

Cabs : Mesa, Krank, Marshall (not sure)...

Mic : SM57 all the way ! I know he records something like 3 or 4 tracks for each guitar, and sometimes he'll mix differents amps (for exemple Caliban : JCM 800, 5150)

I also know that the guitar sound in As I Lay Dying's Shadows Are Security is a Krank Revo, latest Arch Enemy is 5150...

Mic pre : Cranesong Spider (8 channel mic pre), Amek 9098 in the past (not sure)

I guess he asks the band to split the guitar signal into a quality DI, so that they can keep a clean signal untouched for each track recorded.
Then when he mixes, he sets up the amp+cab that fits the music the most, put an SM57 in front of the guitar amp, and lead the DI recorded signal into the amp and records.

Yes he has said that he almost always uses a reamp box. Then he can test out different amps. I know he has really been liking the 5150 and krank stuff lately. He also is going to the i-5 a lot as well I believe. He is definitely a cool dude and will answer questions when he's around.
