channel strip .. or Pre??.. where to put the money??..

Hi all ....
I need to get a pre amp (or a channel strip) and my budget is about $2000 ..
I need something that I can use to add warmth to vocals and keyboards ...

the unit within my budget is TL-audio 5052 .. its got loots of knobs ..! hum whopeeee ... but did anyone use it before?... is it worth dishing the money for?...

or should I get a pre with this money?.. humm like Chandler TG2 .. there is not much (knobs!) to control .. but its supposed to rock! .. can I substitute the absence of the compressor & EQ from my mixer?...

I have a Yamaha O1V96 .. routed to RME HDSP 9652 ..through 3 adat lines ... that's my simple , humble setup ...

any one? ... I am in between the 2 choices...

I'd say don't stretch it out too much. If you get something that tries to do it all, I think eventually you'll want to upgrade them.

Get the best pre, then comp, etc.

Depending on your predominant styles of music, some people might say do something like GreatRiver/Distressor combo, and that might be cool, but I wouldn't go for a pre/comp/eq thing.

That's just me...
