Thread Starter |  without any good preamp, no high end stuff, no analog summing, no... I composed this song one year ago and at that time I had no high end audio gear. But, with or without high end equipment, the song was on the radio! Perhaps they liked it?! I'dd like to know your oppinion. bye! |

| Well wow, I think it sounds great. I haven't listed on a good system but the vocalist is great and the other performances, arrangement and recording/mixing are all well done too. Congrats!  |

Thread Starter | THANKS! Glad you liked it... The femele vocalist recorded in 10 min!!!!! She had a flu, and some "red wine" comming out of her.thumbsup quite impresive... The song is dificult. |

Thread Starter | Speck X-sum is "high end" or class A?! it's ok that it has 16 stereo channels, but I can't test how it sounds. Maybe you'll give me some directions... Or better said: The cheap analog summing boxes like Audient Sumo, Speck X sum, ...sound AS GOOD AS their bigger brothers like SPL Mixdream, Nicerizer 16, 8816, etc... |

Thread Starter | oh, SORRY! I thought i've posted a NEW THREAD... yes, it's Romanian and the singer isn't somebody who's known, she's singing in restaurants... The song was on radio because they made an evening with some songs I've composed. |

M 149 mic - Behringer tube pre - BEHRINGER tube compressor - AD Prodif PLUS (a 10 years old soundcard...16 bit), plug ins for processing (WAVES, Timeworks, ...). As I said: NO HIGH END AT ALL... Now I'm planning for a whole new setup: M149 (I'll keep it) - GREAT RIVER MEQ 1NV pre/eq - EL 8X Distressor compressor - AD/DA Aurora 16 with AES 16 - end I'm thinking also to a good analog summing solution. For vocal tracking I can't decide myself between the Distressor EL 8X and the Purple Audio MC 77. I haven't listen to any of them, just what I've heard frum you, guys and from thelisteningsessions.com (but there they combine only mics and pres. No comps...) In Romania you can't find any place to try out thees beauties... So, what do you say about what could I realize with my current setup (Behringer... )I'm very glad that guys like you, with very well trained and professionals ears, enjoyed listening to my composition and mix down!!!  |

| As a true low ender.... I take offense to your claim that your recording is low end, while using a $2,700 neuman microphone!... Just joking  But whas the gear you mentioned just the vocal chain? do you remember the chain for the drums bass and guitar as well? i ask cause it all sounds nice! oh, might as well ask what sequencer you used too |

Thread Starter | Drums and everything, exept the 2 guitars solo, was computer programing (samples). Those are the only audio units that I still curently have in my studio. In 2 weeks, I'll upgrade!!! I would have done it until now, but only 2 months ago I have discovered GEARSLUTZ and with it, the high end stuff...At least, by READING not TESTING. I have in mind to obtain a US visa, buy a plain ticket to NY and go for Vintage King to (FINALY!!!) test some of the equipment I've just said I want to buy. Perhaps, by testing, I can change my mind about the Great River pre\eq, or the Distressor or the Purple Audio MC 77 comp for tracking, or...I don't know...  BUT, this will be very difficult, because in Romania you don't obtain US visas very easy. I'm afraid that the equipment listed above (the upgrade) will be my final choice. I'M VERY GLAD YOU LIKE MY SONG! I've won some composition conests in Romania... |

Thread Starter | WOW! Thank you guys! You really seem to like my song. Incredibble, with BEHRIGER compressor (100 $) and a very old 16 bit sound card...  I'm so happy that now, after many years, I'LL UPGRADE!!! Crane Song Trakker will be in my rack instead of the Behringer... Aurora 16 I will use instead of the old Pro Dif soundcard... Great River MEQ 1NV instead of the Behringer preamp...(yeah!) Folcrom with 2 x API 512c as for the Analog Summing...PRETTY COOL, don't you think?!  |

| Getting on the radio or selling records has nothing to do with how good anything sounds. Furthermore has nothing to do with gear or ears. It is all song, arrangement and vibe. | Your song is prooving that the arrangement, the composition and the performance of a song, followed by the sound of the instruments are most imprtant for the overall impression of a recording. In opposition to most posters I think the vocals and the guitars sound cheap to my ears and the overall sonic impression is a bit earpiercing. Amazing Performance of the singer! |
