Thread Starter | Got Your Germanium Yet
I ordered mine but still have not received it yet, that's not a problem as it's only been a week since I placed the order. I just hope the delivery date's not going to drag out for months as my supplier can't give me any details when the Germanium is landing here in Australia......just tells me it's on it's way. Has anyone received their Germanium yet, what's it sound like. Nick |

I just got off the phone to my supplier and he said they have just landed in Australia and he has them (all Germanium units SOLD). As they are interstate I should get my unit early/mid next week. So I'm a happy man, lucky I got in early. Nick |

| Good things come to those who wait!
or...Hurry up & wait! Sersiouly, It's our own fault, we're all so excited about this product and Wade's great work that we bought more than he can build in a reasonable time. So....we wait! It is what it is, this is pretty regular when a new product comes out and makes a huge impact, everyone wants to get on board quickly and demand outweighs availability. Welcome to GearSluttiness. |

I was probably the first guy to order them... I must say, they are crazy good... top notch, cool sounds... I own a pair of the original neve 1053 germanium's, and though these were made to be somewhat the same... a different animal, to me but... I think these are, and will be, indispensable in creating new amazing sounds... |

Still waiting... They were supposed to arrive at my dealer two weeks ago... At this point it is hard to tell who is feeding whom the misinformation, Chandler or my dealer. I was told they were shipped from Chandler a week and a half ago, so they should have arrived by now. New story this week (actually same as the last two) is that they will arive 'early next week.' Tack on another 3 or 4 days to get to me, and I'm still looking at another two weeks at best. Hope it is worth the wait! In the meantime, reviews would be most welcome! |

Well it must be a world wide release at the same time. I know for a fact that a number of units are at the distributors warehouse, I rang him this morning. He is a mate of mine and he told me they are on the floor in full view and come Monday they are on their way nation wide. These units are in Australia so USA units surely must be moving as well. I've been told "next week" from my dealer. Fortunately, he's in town, so i can swing by and pick it up rather than waiting for it to ship another leg. I am afraid I will be kicking myself for not picking up a second at the intro price. |

I've been told by my local store that mine (pair!) will be arriving tomorrow from their head office.....although I'm pretty sure they've told me before that they don't receive shipments on Saturday. So maybe Monday, then? For what it's worth, I'm in Canada....and I ordered them back in mid December, so you one and two week waiters have got it pretty good, IMO. |

Yeh but where do you stop. I'd consider a second after I get to hear this ordered unit. I already have a TG2 and a pair of LTD-1 (I use the LTD-1 all the time). Just want a pre that has a different flavour than what I already have and what I'm hearing the Germanium may fit the bill. Nick

Got it today. Still trying it out, vocals mainly at this stage...clean sounding really...I thought it may have a bit more notiable harmonic distortion. But that's cool I have the other Chandlers for that fur sound, the Germanium has a cleaner distortion sound to it and shit load of head room. I need to try it out on my HD rig which is out on hire at the moment, so I'm going through my desk (01V96) then to Mbox2 though SPDIF at the moment. Need to try some instruments on it, so I'm taking the Germanium to a big session where my HD rig is working. Hey for the price this pre is worth it. I really like its warm clean setting, should be great on acoustic guitar. Nick |

Hey there Aearth and Ripper, what is the Germanium like in comparison to your other pres especially the others in the Chandler line both @ low gain settings and being driven hard? You should do a mic pre shoot out! Peace, DHD |

Nope. Still waiting. Guess they forgot about Canada. We are doing some guitar tracks in a week and I would really love to have it so I can give it a whirl. Come on Long and McQuade, where's my Germanium!

Hi Colin, I was told they received 8 of them in the whole chain and that the rest are backordered. I would imagine your's would be among the 8 since we ordered at the same time. Here's hoping we both get the call today.... thumbsup

Yeh I got it from Mick.....cool deal an offer I just couldn't refuse. I have the R84 and it sounds nice with the Germanium typically warm sounding and the U195 more toppy, don't need any EQ with this unit. As I said before a lot of head room without the heavy distortion that you get with the TG2 and LTD-1. Still early days I need to try it out on different instuments and a rig that is not going into distortion like my Mbox2 when you drive the Germanium. Got to try it on my HD rig doing that today. If you have the TG2 and LTD-1 then the Germanium will fit in well......no 1073 clone here thank God. Nick

Hey fellow Cancons. I got mine last week from ******//www.proaudiocanada.com (nice people thought i'd add the plug) From what I understand they got 4 in last week and they were all sold in about 2 hours. Personally I love it. I've got a Neve 1271 (low gain) and a couple of odd ball pres and the Germ is really nice addition. It sounds great on my fender amp but not so good with the marshall. Why, I don't know. Question, have any of you found a use for the 'thick' button. It seems to make everything really muddy. Pete |

Thanks for the tip about proaudiocanada, Pete! The next time I'm queuing up for soon-to-be-released gear, I may try them out. I'm surprised they were so much quicker to get them than L&M...perhaps the germaniums spent a few extra days at head office before going out to the stores. I was told today that they are still in transit from head office...I'm beginning to picture a guy in a suit, hitchhiking his way across the country with them. ....and then that makes me laugh...which makes the waiting so much easier! |
