Urei 1176 or Thermionic culture vulture

I want to spent about 2000Eur and I´m thinking about purchasing an revision F Urei Blackface 1176, but maybe I better spend the money on a culture vulture, even I already own an UAD 1176 which sounds quite similar to the old Urei . What would you do, a second 1176 for going stereo with the 1176 or going for the culture vulture? ( I know the units wonn´t replace each other)(I also have some othe outboard compressors like distressor,Red 3) Just curious for some opinions.
thanks for all answers

Man....this is a question you can only answer for yourself.....

One is no replacement for the other.

It's like asking: should I get another U67 (to have a pair) or buy another pre-amp.

Without knowing your situation how can I know?

sorry for being unhelpful.

I personally like both. A pair of 1176 AND the CV. So the question would be: what do I buy first?

Wow.

That's like comparing apples and ... bicycles.

Plus, pairing a classic Urei 1176 with a UA reissue will NOT make a useable stereo pair. They will sound too different.

However, you can buy a Culture Vulture any time because it's a new device. How often do you have the chance to buy a REAL 1176? Is it in good sahpe?

I'd get the Urei.

Maybe then sell the UA and use that money towards a Vulture.

The unit is sold by the same guy who delivered it in the early 70´s to the first owner, who gave it back to him a few weeks ago. He´s also doing service;he is a professionel dealer, so this side is looking good. It´s a pitty that there are some numbers scratched in the Frontplate....
I compared the urei with the UAD and found the sound from the mids up nearly identical, the main difference was that the Basses through the Urei did sound softer and deeper
