Can a full rack 1176LN and half rack 1176 (in 6176) be linked?

Has anyone ever tried this? I know UA has the module, and both of these compressors have the link I/O on the back. I'd like to use them on an electric guitar cab, with a 57 and Royer 122 into a Chandler TG2.

Almost 18 months later...has anyone tried linking an 1176LN and the comp in the 6176? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Well two real 1176LN's linked was always a crapshoot at best. Rarely seen two that 'match' in settings, you had to tweak alot. The newer versions may be better, but given that the circuitry is different in the two units you are trying to use, using them for stereo is pretty dodgy IMO.

Now-in the case you are suggesting [2 mic's on a el gtr cab] they aren't really stereo, unless they are spread a bit front to back, so why bother to link them? They might just be fine set to respond a little differently anyway if you are using the royer farther back. Did you have another reason? Your signal chain and methodology seem fine otherwise and should yield a great sound. Good luck and happy guitar!

Best-
Jonathan

Hi
Be brave and try it! Flying a kite in a thunderstorm is foolhardy, but stereo linking is not.

What about two kites? Would you hold both in one hand, or one in each?
HA!

Get the UA1176 SA and calibrate em. It just matches the fets on both units. If both are reissues i dont see why not....
