Tell me about A-Designs 500 module pres...

Just got an OSA lunchbox, still waiting on it, and I ve got several slots that are empty.

I am mostly curious about the P1 and EM-silver. I will have 2 MP-1C's and a Gamma mono in the box already, I will be doing lots of Rock music with these, along with other stlyes of music too, but my main concern is rock, drums, gits and bass.

If anyone has either one or both of these please give me some comments on the modules, and which would be a good complement to the modules I already have, that would be great!!

Also, the red one, I do not completely grasp the 50/50 transformer idea, could someone explain this to me?

Thanks in advance all!!

well i am not that into rock but,
i would say the OSA L-3 is a must also, i love it.
i also have a P-1 and can say it is a awesome pre.
not has colored as the OSA cards but you you still get a bit of iron for flavor.
the P-1 seems to push what ever you give up front a bit, like a half bubble floating on water.
so far for me its seen vocals and semi clean guitar
the P-1 is creamy, airy, and in you face, i love it.
i think you will find the P-1 and the OSA just compliment to each other.

Hello sdf,

I have placed a link below in case you have not been to our web site yet.

******//www.adesignsaudio.com/p-1_emseries.htm

If you scroll down to the pic of the "6 Pack for Drums", I hope you will get some idea of what each pre does.

The other thing you might like to try is the search engine here on GS. There has been plenty of talk about them and their uses.

I really don't know what kind of R&R you are doing or what you are looking for in a pre but I would be more than happy to explain things to you if you would care to call.
I think my fingers are falling asleep from posting most of the day today and I am so sorry for that.
Please feel free to call any time to just plain ol chat.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you Pan60!!!!!!!

That's great to know that they compliment each other. I was really interested in the L-3 too. Glad to hear they have some nice color. My plan is to get a P1 next, but I feel the L-3 will soon follow. Still, I'm really interested in all the A Designs EM pres.

I use a pair of P1s and a single EM-Silver, along with a pair of OSA MP1C....and I get 99.5% of everything I need with these....everything from hard core country to orchestral remotes to classic jazz...the ADesigns and OSAs get it done.

And yes, the two do compliment each other...
