I was hoping someone here would know what changes were made from the original A800 mk1 through to the mk3 version?

The MK-I was transformer in and out [IMO the best sounding version], but never had a remote/locator that was worth a damn and the transport logic needs serious modifications if you have any plans of locking the deck to anything else as anything but the master. The MK-II [IIRC, which I may not] I believe was the first machine to have a "real" [Studer remotes were always kinda dodgy until you got to the 820/827] locator/remote... and could chase other machines though it could take several seconds to lock [a major drag if you're mixing with two decks locked for a significant period of time]. The MK-III, which was also the most common, had the capability to lock in a far quicker and more stable fashion than the others. They also went to the 317 heads for this unit [replacing the softer 316 heads], so expected head life was around 15,000 hours [the 316's were barely good for 10 if I remember correctly]. They also seem to have the ability to punch better than the previous iterations of the machine. My memory is a bit foggy on this... so if I got a couple things a little off the time line my most sincere apologies.
