PT Delay Compensation problem

I put Slate Trigger in an Aux track to feed it the snare to trigger as well as the bassdrum and HH for leakage suppression. Standard procedure right? I set the Delay Compensation in PTHD8 to Long and the HW Buffer at 1024. SO I end up with about 3100 samples Delay in the Aux track which should be fine because PT can handle just over 4000, still it goes into the red in the delay compensation. If I set the buffer size to 512 it's fine with just about 2000 samples delay. But it should be able to handle the 3000 as well, has anybody had that problem before? This is the only way to use the Trigger plugin with leakage suppression.

It might help people help you if you give some more details about the setup.
What system?
Protools what? HD?
version 7, 8, 9?
What other plugins are you using in the session? Are they TDM or RTAS only?
Are you using any hardware inserts?

I'm on a Mac on PTHD8. No other plugins, Trigger alone causes that problem. No hardware inserts.

Delay compensation is per processor I believe. So check your playback engine and lower your processor count if you can get away with it. You're probably running 4 processors for RTAS or something, hence the problem.
