Symphony i/o sweet paper weight!

I just picked up a Symphony I/O yesterday which I am soooooo freaking excited about but the problem is I can't use it. As it is now I have a MacBook Pro with no PCI card reader and Apogee still hasn't released update #4 with the USB support :( I would love to be able to use this thing some day!

On A side note I'd like to thank all of you for the information i've gathered over the years. I hardly ever post but I visit the site daily to gain insight and knowledge from you all.

sorry to hear about your plight.

Please let us know how it sounds once you're able to get it running!

do you have another interface? u can use the symphony as a standalone converter via ADAT/SPDIF/AES... just hook your digital inputs and outputs and set it up in maestro

Man, that's rough. See if you can't return it for some stuff that works with your setup.

The biggest selling point of the symphony (beyond expandability, which isn't your main thing if you're not rushing out to get a desktop) is that it has super-low latency. I don't know if you'll get that by running it through ADAT and USB.

i agree but dont forget that the symphony will be a thunderbolt interface too! faster than firewire and usb 3.0.... i like mine going into a symphony 64.. the thunderbolt for mobile rigs will be monstrous.

Yeah this is what I was counting on long term. Hopefully that isn't forever away :/

I have been debating upgrading macbook pros but I see the mobile card is now discontinued. It would be nice if we had some idea bout release dates

I appreciate the advice, but I have a setup that works in the meantime and am in no real hurry other than i'm eager to use the thing! I'm not familiar with the m-audio lightbridge, is this a good solution for the meantime?

So what is the point of your thread? You bought the Symphony I/O knowing that the software for what you want to do has not been released. And?

note to myself: I have to stop doing this. stop reading GS. this is not for me...

I was told by an Apogee support rep that my card slot would support the mobile card. I figured I would post here to figure out where to go from here. You could also make a note to yourself not to post pointless replies to threads you feel are pointless. But that may make too much sense. And judging by some of your other posts you seem to be the resident troll
