Thread Starter | Racked SSL Channelstrips
I noticed there was a company in Nashville that is selling SSL (4000 series) channelstrips that they've mounted into a standard 1U box. I have always liked using the SSL Superanalogue strips (now long out of production) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with SSL strips pulled from a console, as above. Any thoughts appreciated . . .

...or for roughly the same price you could get a Mynx with the E Series EQ and Dynamics modules in it. BTW, all of the above will not sound the same as the SuperAnalogue channel strip you mention. You'll need channels from a J or K series (or AWS/Duality) if that's what you're after.

I do not understand racked SSL modules AT ALL. Maybe I'm alone here...but probably not. SSL consoles are about the consoles as a whole. The automation, the routing, the sheer impressive size, etc. It's not like an old Neve module where the experience is more coming from the input channels.

| Lives for gear | Thank you very much Serious note now: The preamps, EQ and dynamics of an SSL channel strip will be superior to the ones used in most digital setups. Yes you could but an outboard pre, outboard EQ and outboard dynamics... but you could also buy a racked SSL strip |

Yes, but no filters. That was a real bummer for me. I love the layout of the strips - I wish you guys would make them again. | |
