Biamp Legend Console value

hey there folks.
i am considering buying a Biamp legend 20 channel console and am trying to get some idea of what they are worth.

this one will is totally serviced by a world class tech with a brand new, way overbuilt power supply.

any comments on what this might be worth and also how they sound??

i am looking for an upgrade sonically from my midas venice 240 and am told that these boards sound quite good.

I didn't think that BiAmp made anything worth buying. Weren't they the entry-level product of their day, sold at mom and pop music stores? Anyway, the only BiAmp consoles and eqs that I can remember using were total junk. Faders felt like dragging a stick through sand. I am not aware of an upscale BiAmp line, but they could have had one.

hmmmm,
i found only this thread about the Biamp Legend:

******//www.gearslutz.com/board/low-e...gend-info.html

i saw it the other day in person and the fader are not cheap at all, nor do the frame or modules look cheap at all......

my tech swears it is a very nice sounding board. he said very few of the nicer Legend consoles were ever made by Biamp because they got in trouble for copying designs that werent theirs. apparently it is an all discrete transistor and op amp design with a fairly musical sounding EQ and a lot of headroom.

i would love to know how thus console compares to a Midas Venice if anyone is familiar with both.

any info anybody has would be helpful, especially about the potential value of one..........

Used analog desks are going for cheap across the entire range, basically whatever you can get for them. Good cosmetics, no scratchy/noisy pots -switches, everything working will get you a premium price. Look at what comparable desks are selling for (ebay completed auctions) and that should give you a ballpark range, ie Mackie 8 buss series, Soundcraft Deltas, AMR's, etc... As for how it sounds, there is quite a range of 5352/TL072 chipped desks, hearing for yourself, especially working with the desk's EQ will be the true answer. Best routing options for your workflow should weigh heavy in your decision too. Just do a complete test drive (every pot and switch touched), listen for noise on the 2 buss with all the channels on. My guess if everything is perfect, a Biamp Legend 20 channel is still going to fetch less than $1600.
