Matched pair or not? Josephson C42

I'm looking at buying a Josephson C42. My question is what would be the bennefit of having a matched pair verses two of the same mics but not a "matched pair?"

These links should be of interest:

There have been too many times I later regretted not getting the
matched pair. ( Royer R121 is one example).

I just received a matched pair of C42’s. For me the “extra” $100 was
worth it.

I have not done a side by side of matched and not matched. So until I do
this kind of test I may have paid the 100 for peace of mind.

To date I have never regretted buying a matched pair of
microphones. I have only regretted not doing it.

p.s. I assume these will be used as drum overheads.

Yes, as well as acoustic guitar, mandalin, and dobro.

It can be such a timeconsuming pain in the ass to not have a matched pair.
It is absolutely worth it to get matched capsules.

How do these mics compare to the AT 4041's or 4051's?

definetly worth it. It will also probably help the resale value if you decided to part with them one day.
