Around £1200-1300 ish..... give or take is about right. That would be from a dealer who's properly tested it, and would give a month or two guarantee...(MJQ or Funky Junk)

All the ones from the Whitfield Street sale went for over £1500..... but then everything in that sale went for above market value!

Vintage King in the US usually has them for roughly the equivalent of £1200 (again give or take.)

FET 47s in good shape are fetching $3K to $3500 USD these days. Hard to find. Harder to find than tube 47s.

I was following a few ebay Fet47's the middle of last year and they were generally selling for about $2000 to $2400 USD. I can't imagine that the pricing would have changed that dramatically since then.

This one went for $2350 on Ebay not too long ago

Well sure, that's EBay. The last four U47fet I knew about from a respected pro audio dealer (cleaned tested warranteed) went for $3K or northward. And at that price they sold fast!

The problem with a lot of those mics is that they were either used for kick drum a lot, and the diaphragms are tired/beat/shot, OR they were in radio stations in an era when smoking was allowed.

You might get lucky buying one from EBay, or you might get one of the thrashed ones, in which case, the refurb cost will certainly push the price up above the market-value.

I have a great condition U47 Fet that's been modded by Klaus Heynes.
If anyone wants to offer me $3500, I'd sell it in a heartbeat.
Since I've gotten it back from Klaus, It's been used twice on kick drum,
Steve

Well, I think that would be worth it. Probably sounds amazing. What was the mod, exactly?

The problem is that I think the marketplace wants non-modded ones. I know it's weird, but I have seen stock U67s sell like hot-cakes -- more people looking for them than there are mics for sale -- while Stephen Paul modded ones sat there with no takers. And those were expensive mods!

So the mod thing may or may NOT be an advantage when selling the classic mics. At the very least, when you do sell a modded one, you can rarely get the money back out of it that you spent on the mod.

Here's the deal,
I bought a very used and dented u47 fet for $200
I sent it to Klaus for him to bring it back to life.
He recommended doing some mods to it. To tell you the truth, I am not very technical and I don't really know what he did to it. I think mostly circuit stuff.
I got it back and it looks great. More importantly, it sounds fantastic.
I think I spent about $1100 for Klaus to do his thing.
That was a year and a half ago. I've only used it a handful of times since then.
Some voice-over, upright bass, room mic.

Compared to what it sounded like before, It's magical. To be fair, I've not heard a stock U47fet in excellent condition.

Most of my clientel is rap/r&b
Almost all of the bands I get are the nu-metal and I just use a D6 on the kick.

I personally wouldn't pay $3500 for a 47fet.
I am not really looking to sell it.
But I would take $3500. thumbsup
Hope that helps,
Steve

I have a FET47 in close to perfect condition, it has only been used for classical recording since it´s birth and as a front of kict mic about 5 times during the past year. I am also in some financial trouble, so if someone is interested PM me! I can shoot photos and send a sound snippet!
Rock on!

StudioKing-

I have a FET 47 I bought in 1990 from Warner Bros Studios in LA. It's in perfect condition, and rarely used. Are you still interested in purchasing?

Neumann Vintage U47 fet i Microphone ***NM*** - eBay (item 7384686534 end time Jan-29-06 18:27:30 PST)
I just want to point out that this post is old and that the auction was from January 2006 (3 years ago). U47 FETs have been selling on eBay recently for more than $3000. That may be a random swing in the market, but there you go.

Klaus doesn't do much to U47 FETs. I had him work on mine, and the only real "mod" he did to it was remove some type of pad in the circuit that he said was only added for the ones to be sold in the US. This internal pad is not to be confused with the two switchable ones on the outside of the body which I can still use.

The tuning of the "el diablo" is very "47 FET esque"... there was a serious reason for that. The idea was to have a 47 FET with a bit more "point"... all done with a pretty much indestructable ribbon... go figure.

I've seen them go as high as $4k, but i would say that these days the market price is $3-3.5k.

When I tried to sell mine about two years ago it was hard to find a buyer for 1.500.- euros, which I thought was a ridiculously low price, especially because it was in pristine condition and had never used for rock and roll...I regret having sold it, not that I could not live without it´s sound (I have a Gefell M71 that sounds just like it) but it is nice to have an original....anyway, I needed the money....

the difference between a tube 47 and the fet if pretty overrated. I once set up my fet beside a wagner u47 (tube) and the difference was in the highs as to be expected, but really not that big and really not something that could not be narrowed even more by 1-2db of eq and/or sauration from analog outboard for example...

Hey LSDD, it would be nice if you filled out your profile to at least include your location. A lot of people are justifiably leery of sending money to people with one post and no point of origin... That said, whaddya want for the FET?

I think up to $4,000 sounds about right, $3,000 would be a great deal. Any less than that, come talk to me first!
