Nope, they are on hold right now, the studio (and I) are booked well into the summer, sorry, no time for DVDs right now.

Well I'll keep holding my breath anyway . You'll have to unleash all this information on us sometime...

Good to hear you're booked, that can't be a bad thing.

Any chance you're gonna be able to sneak down to Tucson June 16-18 for the TapeOp convention?

We'll have the complete Korby Convertible set and the new Korby Blue and Red mics for comparison. One of the guests is also bringing a Pearlman TM1 mic.

On the preamp side there are a few additions to the WireWorld list: The new Chandler Germanium and Chandler TG Channel version 2, a Mindprint DTC and we might have some new (still secret) A-Design pres.

On the compressor end we have two GrooveTubes Glory comps and a Neumann U473 and two U473A and the RidgeFarm Boiler Compressor additional to the WireWorld equipment list.

HYDROGYN, fronted by the lovely and talented Miss Julie will be performing for us and we are recording and mixing the Skid Row cover "18 And Life".

I'll post some pictures and comments here once we get going.
I was surfing your production workshop site and did a search on GS and found this tread. Just before i read this post i thought "it would be a dream for me to know how 18 and live is done" since it is my number one rocksong favorite of all time! It really does something with you in the way you feel, thats amazing production/mixing skills i rarely found anywhere else!

Now you're actually doing this song in a workshop i am very interested, because i (try to ) make a lot of 80's rock inspired stuff!

Too bad i don't think i can attend this session if it isnt full yet (I live in the netherlands, so it takes some arranging, espescialy now that i have finals for my tax law graduation) But i have a question: How skilled do you have to be to attend, since i am not a professional? What basics must be covered?

Thanks in advance for answering!

I am definately going to take a workshop sometime because when somebody did like 6 of my top 10 records all time, it's theft from my own wallet Not to attend!

If you ever recorded one note with any system, you're qualified for the workshop
I have people from all experience levels, but I guess a general idea about recording would be good.

Thumbs up Check out Brandon's articles

For those who can't come to a workshop, Brandon Drury put together a day by day account (4 days so far) of the last workshop in January 2006. Have fun reading:

Those are very nice articles! People who rave about what you do and how great the workshop was, is IMHO the best promotion you can get

I really enjoyed reading and i'll keep an eye on your production workshop site!
I'd love to hear how the song sounded when it was finished

Not sure when exactly I can schedule another workshop. It looks like we might be able to fit one in after the Skid Row album and before the King's X album, sometime in June, maybe right before/after TapeOpCon. I'll post it on my website (see below) when I get my ducks in a row.

You gotta go!

Ok this is my first so I’m going tell you a bit about myself. I’ve been an engineer for about 25 years. For the past eight years I have run the audio group at Microsoft Studios. MS Studios is a 65K square foot facility in Redmond WA. To say the least it is an amazing place with great people and one of the best parts is we do all things audio. One of the cool things about working for MS is they give us training dollars. So this year three of us are attending Michael’s workshop. I have learned more about audio in this week than I have learned in the last two years!

If you have thought about taking this workshop then you have to go! I know it make seem like you don’t have the money but I will tell you now that you will make more by using the skills he will give you. I wish I could run all of my people through the class. Also if any of you are wondering if he is a good teacher I can tell you that he is great and he answers every question.

I’m telling you that if you take your art seriously then you have to go to this workshop!

PS. Ryan thank you for hooking us up with this workshop and we wish you were here!

Wow, I thought this thread was gone for good.

Anyway, the next workshop is January 26th through February 3rd, 2008. The band is SOLVI from Nashville, and we'll have a bunch of cool new gear to check out. The 4 day workshop is always part of the 9 day workshop, so you can just attend the first or last 4 days, depending if you want to be there for the recording or mixing part.

Click on the link below for details.
