Eventide DSP4000 vs. dsp7000

Hi there,
I'm looking into getting an Eventide dsp4000b or dsp7000. I want one for extreme sound manipulation in order to create far reaching and mind twisting noises and soundscapes.
I am having difficulty finding specs online for either unit.
Can anyone explain to me the difference between the two models?
Also does anyone know what a reasonable price for either unit is?
Any thoughts much appreciated Thanks

Come on, surely someone on here knows about these units. . .
Any information, especially about the DSP4000?
Please tell what you know

Do a search...

There's another recent thread concerning DSP4k vs 8KFW vs ET Plug Ins, etc. I've had a 4k for about 15 years. They come up used on eBay. Haven't felt the need to upgrade to a 7K. Might like a 3K and to get my 910 fixed...

Get the 7000. First off the dsp is 4x more powerful than the 4000; then you'll have better converters and many more and better presets.
Basically the 4000 is what started the modular programming environment, assisted by pc Vsigfile editor. The 7000/Orville id the second generation and finally the current 8000/7600 are the top of the line developments.
There is no sense in getting a 4000 today.

best

Any version should work....even though recent years ones are not tested on older "dead" products.
Remember that the 4000 will only work thru a MIDI interface on your pc.
I might have older versions if you won't have luck with the latests ones.

cheers

You can do some truly amazing things with a laptop (PC) and the 7000.

DSP4000 vs 7000 - go for a 7500 and get the built in Sampling....That the extra convertors and bit length plus AES options etc......you'll never look back, 4000 would need to be 100% perfect and around 700 Bucks to gain interest!
DSP4000 and VSIG don't love each other though!
And Vsig is very slow via Midi!
DSP7000/7500 for sure!

7000/7500/7600 are great units - just remember Eventide gives you the immortal power of FX & Reverb design that comes with VSIG.....Some love it, Some loathe it....I have had bad previous experience from trying it on a 4000 and a Mac w/ VSIG- it was horrid, PC would be brilliant with VSIG!

Though I'm scared for now!
