Eventide 2016

Does anybody use the old Eventide 2016 or has anybody used the new Eventide 2016 reissue?

I'm looking for a main male vocal verb for hard rock. This box caught my eye, but the Kurzweil KSP 8 is getting raves. I'm looking for the verb to be a little more dense then what I heard on the demo page of the KSP8.

The 2016's are awesome, but make sure you test the unit out before you buy it. Service on them is difficult to impossible thanks to the way they soldered it's innards. The "Stereo Room" preset would do you very well.

I've been trying to get around to checkin out the Princeton reissue. It seemed cool listening thru a pair of worn out headphones at AES, but I haven't a/b'ed or anything like that.

One of my all time favorite female vocal reverbs.

The unit I had for years went out for the count a couple of months back, so I've been waiting on the Princeton unit. I am definitely going to buy one soon.

Keep us informed of how it is. I'm still interested in one, even though there may still be better overall versatility in some effects boxes for your money. I'm still in search of a main male rock vocal reverb (for my voice) from whatever piece of gear that it may come from.

We have an original 2016 and it's used on every production.
The stereo room is pretty amazing as a drum room and on vocal and strings.
I just did an R&B track with a spanish guitar in and used the stereo room preset with something around 3 seconds and it was unbelievable.
The other programs are also really good, the generic room and the high density plate.
The front * rear parameter is cool.
And it makes "clack" when you switch it on and after it did the selftest (a relay on the converter box).

BTW. does anybody have some more eproms, I had one time a contact to a guy from who wanted to EMail me some codes to burn on eprom, but haven't heard from him since.

The new Eventide Reverb 2016 has the exact same algorithm presets as well as a lot more workability than the original. 24bit DSP analog audio I/O, digital I/O and MIDI...

Its a digital unit, there really is no reason to seek out the old one--unless you can get a great deal on it. Well that, and unless you're convinced years of wear and tear on components add to the sound.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, but part of what gives its character are the converters.

The new 2016 is an excellent box, the perfect complement to a 480L. It's got a graininess and texture to it that's just great.

It works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

Just like any other reverb unit.

interesting. this sounds like more of an endorsement than a slight to me, . wouldn't your 8000 be busy doing other things in a mix? maybe you'd want the 2016 as a dedicated reverb without having to pony up for an H8000... maybe not. I happen to like the idea of a dedicated reverb with easy to read simplified controls... I think the UI on the 2016 is great... quick & immediate, exactly what i want. haven't heard one yet tho.

or maybe you just don't like eventide reverb... a lot of ppl have that opinion too.

don't mind me, i was just amused by your choice of phrasing.

Aaron, i don't mind at all. I'm not critical. what i was trying to say was i could get that sound out of my h8000 all day..dedicated reverb is great if thats your thing.
i have a system 6000. i guess you could call that dedicated reverb. i guess

What are the other verbs in your mix palate that the 2016 is layered with?
