Just curious, how many days recording/mixing did you have?
Also, did I see Mr Filipetti in the video?

..
Wasn't really going for iso - it's about the only way to set up a group of that size in there - drum leakage in the string overheads sounded *great*! I actually wish I'd had more on a few things.

About a week of tracking, about a week of mixing...

Yes, Frank tracked the vocals on "Two Sleepy People" in NY - 49 on Norah, 47 on Seth.

best,
rich

Why is that all the U48´s in the old pictures have chrome tops but the ones in the recent shots have the matte finish?
Did the mics or headbaskets got changed out at some point?

U47s went from chrome top to matte finish around late '56. I believe all U48s had a matte finish (and short body) unless it was an older U47 modified for figure 8 (EMI was known to have done this to a few of their U47s).

Yeah, I think I remember reading something about that in "Recording The Beatles". They had a couple of U47/48's, which are quite rare by all accounts.

No, serials on mics and supplies are different.
Capsule assemblies have a unique serial as well.
The mic should have the serial stamped inside the mic on the base though.

My Recordings/Credits

I'm going to be in LA for the GS party at VKLA on Sat Oct 20th - I would love to swing by.

Is there anyone here working at Capitol Studios LA that could let me and my family have a quick jog through one afternoon?

Thanks in advance,

If you do manage to get into mastering, maybe you can snap a better picture of the old Neve mastering consoles than what are up on the web?
