INXS Guitar Tone/Production

Just wondered if any of you sluts knew anything about the old INXS production. I was just listening to "Devil Inside" today and was really blown away by the drum and guitar sounds. All info is welcome, espeically what effects and other stuff was going on.

Hello msrecprod,

A lot of the early INXS stuff was recorded at a studio in Sydney called Rhinosaurous Studios which has long since been closed down. A lot of the equipment was purchased by members of the band when it closed down with some ending up in Gary Beers's former studio Mangrove Studios (http://www.thegrovestudios.com/) on the Central Coast north of Sydney before he sold it to concentrate on the Rockstar TV show. I know some one who was working at Rhinosaurous Studios so give me some time and I'll see if I can get some more info for you.

Ah........ Bob Clearmountain!

I asked him about that record once (personal favorite of mine) and he said that it was quite well recorded and he used some basic Yamaha stuff as well as the desk. Nothing too posh.

I suggested that he should mix "KICK" in 5.1 and he seemed enthuastic.

Nice guy too.

KICK in 5.1 would be pretty sick! Does any one know what amps they were using? There is also a constant effect on the distorted guitars that is super smooth.
