I am still using 500 series and 1272s, just not on everything.
Gotta have a 512 on snare.

Here is a Jay Leno line:

The Harrison board is so good........
That is can make vocal on a Neumann 103 sound decent.

I've seen mint Neumann U67's go for 85€ in the early 90's (it just wasn't in € back then). And EMT 140 plates for 100€ just few years ago and bunch of Studer consoles for few hundred €'s etc etc. But it doesn't mean that this is the value!

Like I said, there's always been good deals when somebody want's to get rid of something.

That being said, if you're out for buying an analog console, it is the buyers market, big time.

We did a recap session, one guy removing & cleaning and the other installing new ones, we did one channel in 20-30min. It's very hard to do it faster than that, although we tried, I think we clocked one in about 15min. Nice sport actually

These are NOT Jensen transformers by the way! In fact, nobody now can remember who made these ones! Probably wound in somebody's garage.
It is said that the feedback output stage was developed to improve the appalling distortion figures because of the transformer. But many feel that this output stage is an integral part of that Harrison sound.

Well, at least the JE-115-K-E transformers in the mic pre's are definitely made by Jensen as they still do them...

but the JB-499-A-I output transformer is a bit of a mystery indeed.

I was talking about the O/P transformers. Your previous message implied that the console was ALL Jensens.

Hey Guys, Wilmot is a very talented/smart guy, he is my tech and one of the best I have been around, thanks for any help you are giving him on the specs etc.
What would I do without Bill ?

Telefunk, I don't think he has enough post or been a GS long enough to see the classifieds. He might have to look under my user ID.

I saw one of these (or similar) in Wizard Studios in NY, circa 1982. Al DiMeola was mixing his live Tour De Force record there at the time.

Telling myself I`d better check out of this thread - I have been thinking about picking up a few of the Great River 500 Series EQ`s ...with each successive post my GAS attack is getting worse.

Great thread - something very, very special about pieces of gear like we're seeing here. I can only imagine mixing on this thing.

Does it..., could it.... get any better ?

MR2 MR3 Transformer

Basically the stock transformers on the MR2 and MR3 are the Output to Tape Feed and the Output to FX Loop Feed. There may bave been optional Mic Pre retrofits from the factory, but the stock Mic Pre didn't have a Transformer. Telefunk, Can you take a picture of one of these Mic Pres with the Jensen 115s and post it. Curious to see how this was installed on these channels.
I'm Running a 26 Channel MR2 that I Hand Built the Console Cabinet and Frames and hand wired the 4 Motherboards on. This particular set of Channels did not have the Transformers. My understanding is there was a less expensive transformer delete option on these. I'm in the process of interfacing the MR2 with a Pair of Focusrite Saffire Pro 26s and a Pro 10 to give me 24 A/D D/A. Playback is working fine.... However the signal from the Mic Pres is a little weak and I am working on impedence matching. Thinking about reinstalling some Output Transformers.... Any Ideas on this would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks...Take Care,
Shawn

sorry to go off topic here, but i have a allison research egc 101 vca still on the board from a Harrison console as well as some buttons and switches and such.

i got the p&g d20059 fader, cap and mounting screws too.

I'm basically hacking the e.q. out of a channel, so anything not necessary to the e.q. section i don't need and am willing to sell or trade.

The MR2 Build

Most of these components originally came from Harrison MR2 Serial#0008, which was originally a 52 Channel Desk first comissioned at an Audio Engineering Training Facility in California. Currently it is 26 Channels. Motherboards are completely wired by hand. Elco 56 connectors on the rear and FX loop Patchbay on the upper right. Original VCA assemblies are also handwired and hopefully will find their way to a USB interface to wake up the original automation circuits.
