Stupid question about Drawmer products

What is the difference in the 1960 and the 1969? I know the obvious answers but the actual differences.... also is the compressor on the 1960 hybrid or fet or tube? I know the pres are all tube, is the compressor like the compressor out of the 1969 or the 1968 (same)??

This is best answered by Fletcher...where are you, oh Guru of the Boards?

I can tell you this, whatever it is, it sounds way better than any 1960 I ever heard. Was using my 1969 all weekend on mix-buss. Yummy!

The 1960: Mic pre is not tube at all, the compressor section is hybrid.

I think in the original 1960 it's a chip-transistor mic-pre and what in the compressor is tube, I don't know. Maybe only the make-up gain is tube, which is definitely the case in the 1969. The 1969Merc has an improved mic-pre, using better chips. There are some cool better features in the compressor, too, including a better stereo link feature and the "big" button. It's an overall better circuit. I think the only thing unchanged from the 1960 to the 1969 is the DI. I always thought the 1960 DI was pretty decent, especially for bass guitar.

The 1968 is the compressor section from a 1969Merc...no mic pre or DI.

Am I right? Pretty sure I am....

I was looking at the schematic so I would not be dependent on memory, a total of 3 tubes, one in the compressor section, mic pre contains 4 transistors driving your basic 5532.

This link should cover your question ******//mercenaryeditions.com/drawmer1969.shtml if it doesn't lemme know and I'll see what I can do to clarify whatever you want to know.

I will say that we gutted the 1960 except for the meters, power transformer and DI box and started from scratch... the 60 and 69 are totally different products.
