DFW area people

Are enough Dallas/Forth Worth are people on here to make it worthwhile to have a messageboard dinner like the east coasters did? I have several recording nerd friends I could bring.

I'm only 350 miles west...given enough notice, I could most likely make it...

I'm actually in (cough) Durant, OK. The nearest big city is Dallas. Under 90 miles. OKC is a 2 1/2 hour drive and a fraction of the size. Well lets say maybe a month or so from now. Obviously we have to work around alot of schedules, but mine is pretty flexible.

Trust a Texan to think of 350 miles as 'only'. I bet you'd go just to get the hell out of Midland...

Yee-Haw...

Actually it ain't so bad here, since we got indoor plumbing...horses don't care much for it though...seems they slip a lot on the wooden floors....

So, Dave, you gonna make the trip? Give you a good excuse to head back home for a bit...

Hey, if we do this, then we need to get Harvey and Alex Gerst to show. Would Denton (the home of happiness) be an option?

Probably not, but you never know; it's about 11 hours by car or a few hundred dollars by plane. Even if y'all met at Mercado Juarez (for the cabrito) or Snuffer's on lower Greenville (for the fries), it's a long way to go for lunch...

Is August 6, 8, 9 or 10 cool? I'm going to be in Dallas on the 8th & 10th already and on the 6th I'll be in Denton. My band will be playing.

Which one do you know?

Well if you don't know who I am, you're probably not that mike. He used to uses the same handle on message boards with a capital "M" like you and live in Austin, and is a musician. But hey, I'm sure there's more than a couple Michael's in Austin.

Unless there's a session, Alex and I am in. We're just outside Denton, about 5 miles West of I-35. Easy to find, too:

Go to the end of the dragon's tail, turn left and go one mile, till you reach the edge of the world. Turn right; we're the second house on the right.

Have we got any ideas on dates and times yet???

Neil Young and Crazy Horse are in Dallas on August 6 so I'll be there then. I could do another time as well.

Let's aim for a weekend so more people have a chance of making it. I actually have shows in DFW on the 8th & 10th but friday or sunday probably isn't as good as a Saturday for likelyhood of everybody's free schedule and do give a little cushion for people to get out there and back for work. I would say august 9th would be a good day unless somebody objects.

So are we on for the 9th? Is harvey's place cool to at least meet at (it's up to him obviously) or does anybody have suggestions for a place? If we go to denton we can eat at Mr. Chopsticks or the Tomato (haven't been there in a while).

I've been trying to get a hold of an engineer friend that's been in Europe to see if he had any ideas before i set it in stone. He won't answer his stupid phone. But like I said, suggestions are welcome.

Okay. I'm going to say August 9th Cafe Brazil in Deep Ellum (there's something like 5 in dallas and richardson alone. I'm talking about the one on Elm street). I picked it cuz it's not too expensive, not hard to find, and since we're probably all musicians Deep Ellum is probably a good place to meet. Let's say 5:00 because after 7, you won't find close parking under $5. Are we cool on this brothas?
