Tracking Room Dimensions

Hello all:

I have the opportunity to move into a single story, freestanding office building ruffly 2000 SF total. There are already a bunch of dividing walls creating 3 offices, 2 bathrooms, a lunch room and a conference room.

There is a main open area that, if I drop in some new walls etc, would give me a live room of about 20'x18'. I am checking into the ceilings to seee what king of space is above the now about 8' ceilings.

I have worked in a variety of different studios w/ either small/cramped tracking rooms, or big-enough-for-an-orchestra rooms.

I havent had much opportunity to track in rooms in the 20' square range.

What size tracking rooms do some of you folks have access to?
Does anyone work with a room close to these dimensions?

The conference room is about 14'x12' - OK for a control room: at least everything will be close at hand.

Anyone work in a control room close to these dimensions?

I might take some pics pretty soon here.

Anyone interested in looking at pictures of an unconverted office space?

thanks
JG

Cubed (and then squared) are your worst dimensions. Stay away from equal sides (and multiples) for your best sounding room. Not sure why, I just know its true. Something about how standing waves interact.

In other words, 20 X 20 X 10 would be bad. 23 X 17 X 11 would be worlds better.

I'm hip to room dimensions/design. The dimensions I posted are rough. Actual construction would skew to fit a better ratio LxWxH.
thanks

Ok.

I very nearly made the mistake of building a square music room. I was warned just in time. thumbsup

ACCEPTABLE ROOM RATIOS

Don't use 1:1.075:1.868 ratio's

But use eg. 1:1.14:1.39 or 1:1.28:1.54 ect.
