Otari radar capabilities

I know i have been the king of random questions lately, but Ive been sort of hunting down an otari radar system for the past year (radar 2, no 16 bit) and I was just wondering what the editing system was like. Could you, say, set up a reverse reverb on a snare track? I assume it'd be more in the "primitive" analog tape machine fashion, but ain't that the fun of recording?

editing is not what these machines are built for! although you can copy/cut/paste etc, it takes a few seconds to copy, a few seconds to paste... not like a daw, where you can move regions around instantly!
they do sound great though, and the limited workflow/trackcount can also be seen as a feature!

Consider it as the hard drive recorder equivalent of a 24 track tape machine. Be warned that it might be tough to find economically priced parts if you need them down the track and are dollar conscious.

IZ still supports them I do believe. Bill offered to sell me one a while back actually.

If you want to get a feel for recording without a daw. I have a mackie mdr (with cabling) that was the backup for my radar. Id like 550 for the whole shebang..... if you decide you love the workflow, buy the radar and use this as a backup (or sync for 48 tracks) .......ps sorry for pimpin in public
