upper case readablility

I have read several studies on the effects of uniform case text... I found one study that stated there there were no significant differences in readablility, or reading times, with mixed case text... however...

"readers tended to take the longest to read text that was presented using all capital letters, where word shape cues were missing and familiarity was not as strong" -- http://hubel.sfasu.edu/courseinfo/SL03/email_study.htm

although... the question remains, why yell when you can amplify....

Heh, that link is pretty cool.

The main purpose of a mix bus compressor is to take up space on Gearslutz forums. It works really well.

Seriously, just do a search, you'll find about 30 threads about them just in the last month or two.

Basically, it's a stereo compressor on your main output. Some use it to tame peaks, raise apparent loudness, and add "glue" to a mix.

You can also do a search on this forum for "glue," or just go to http://www.elmers.com

The purpose is to shrink the dynamic range and affect transient response and overall "gel" of the mix. Some comps add flavor of their own which can be desired.

It is typically used in mastering and mixing for these purposes.
