I thought I read that years ago. I think I still have the mag somewhere. He did use one. Ever sinse i read that I always hear that rockman in his sound. Here it is.

Cantrell: There's a lot of different stuff in both those tunes. For the guitar tones, I used my Bogners, a Mesa/Bogie Dual Rectifier and a Rockman; last time I used the Marshalls modified by Bogner, which is what I use live. And instead of eqing the guitar, I put down guitar tracks of different eq sounds. I put the low stuff with Dual Rectifier, the big whomping shit, and the real biting stuff that is my sound in the middle, and then a real shitty, high Rockman on top of it. I did this on each side, so that even though there's three tracks on each side, they're not necessarily used every time. But whatever sound you want, instead of having to twist the knob, it's already there. That was due to Dave Jerden; he's really smart guy.

I just had a couple beers and buffalo wings with Bryan about four evenings ago when he was in town. I asked him all sorts of stuff about the Dirt record. Bryan is a GREAT guy and a class act all the way. About the nicest guy I've ever come across in this buisness. We're going to try to work together in the future hopefully....

Anyways, regarding amps for Dirt. Bryan said that the Bogner Fish preamp was the main tone. The Recto was also added and said the Rockman in question was a half rack Rockman Sustainer and was used VERY sparingly. Bryan is all about adding different tones to make a bigger sound. For instance, using a high gain amp for the distortion and then a lower gain amp for the actual tone of the note.

Guitars, he said were all Jerry's G&L's and a Les Paul that Bryan still has to this day. I'm going down to LA in January to work with a client and hopefully track some guitars at Bryan's Tranzformer Studios. You can bet I'll be looking to check out that Les Paul

Bryan also said he's a SM57 guy on guitars and also now likes Tube Royers as well.
