How does a Eventide GTR4000 differ from an Eventide 4000

Can someone spell it out for a noob? I am looking for an Eventide to run my drums through (real heads know) and I am thinking of picking up a 4000. How does the GTR4000 differ from the plain old 4000?

Presets / algorithms for guitarists.

You may also want to check out an eclipse if you're not going to be doing major effects or algorithm creation.

How do you use eventide on drums? I have some tricks, but I'm curious!

Besides the presets, the main difference is that the GTR4000 does not have digital I/O unless it was upgraded. It also is better at handling direct guitar input and has separate XLR and 1/4" I/O connectors.

The best advice is to send a signal (recorded drums, CD, TV) to the Eventide and play with the preset so that you learn what they are and what they can do. No shortcuts. You have to spend the time and effort to learn and master the skills of using the gear you have.

I just had a client buy a GTR 4000 and I saw no Instrument inputs just +4 or -10 TRS or XLR. I thought the only diff was Mix control on global and preset, and more gtr oriented presets.

I do wanna know if theres patches in SYS-Ex I can dump to it for more of the normal 4000's type presets. Not the optional card.

Many of the presets in the DSP4000 are in the GTR4000. And while you can save and use presets from to one to another via the PCMCIA card or via SysEx, the actual DSP sfotware models that make up some the different presets from the DSP4000 to the GTR4000 are different. If you try to use or load a preset from one to another and the DSP modules are missing, the preset will not load or be useable. Most of these DSP modules are stored in the EPROM's on the GTR4000 and DSP4000. Some are in the optional Eventide PCMCIA preset cards.
