EMT 140 plate reverb has 2 inputs for one driver coil

Any idea why the BBC mod version of the EMT 140 has 2 inputs that sum together to feed one driver coil? do all EMT 140 plates have this? also how should i feed this signal...split from one Aux send or do i need to use up 2 individual aux sends? Thanks

Aren't the BBC versions 2 in, 2 out, with the inputs summed to one driver, and outputs 2 drivers into 2 amplifiers?

I don't think it's a special BBC mod. In the past I've worked with ex Dutch radio plates with the same configuration and I own a ex German radio 140 with two inputs and one driver. The two inputs go into a summing amp.
I think these versions are from the period that two track recorders were most of the time used as track one and two and not L/R.

That's probably answered it, thanks
